چکیده

The possibility of quantifying iron content in the topsoil of the slopes of the El Hacho Mountain complex in Southern Spain using imaging spectroscopy is investigated. Laboratory, field and airborne spectrometer (ROSIS) data are acquired, in combination with soil samples, which are analysed for dithionite extractable iron (Fed) content. Analysis of the properties of two iron related absorption features present in laboratory spectra demonstrates good relations, especially between the standard deviation (S.D.) of the values in an absorption feature and the Fed content (R 2 = 0.67) as well as the ratio based Redness Index (R = 0.51). Such derived relations are less strong for the ROSIS data (R for S.D. = 0.26 and R for Redness Index = 0.22). The spatial distribution of iron in vegetated areas shows a strong sensitivity of these relations with the presence of vegetation. A combination of both methods shows that the overestimation of the Fed content with the one method is (partly) compensated by the underestimation with the other method. # 2006 Elsevier B.V. Using Imaging Spectroscopy for the Quantitative Determination of Soil Iron Content in Partially Vegetated Areas

We determine the soil iron content in a semiarid region of Spain using airborne imaging, field and laboratory based spectroscopy. By assessing the influence of vegetation fractional and fully covered areas are separated for specific analysis each. The derived distribution of soil iron content is spatially discontinuous so spatially discontinuous quality indicators are assigned depending on the ...

کانی شناسی سطحی خاک‌های سولفاته اسیدی ساحلی، در ناحیه شهری پینجارا، جنوب غربی استرالیا

Acid sulfate soils in Western Australia commonly occur in coastal regions. One of the greatest threats to coastal environment is the disturbance of acid sulfate soils due to urban development which can lead to widespread acidification of lands and streams and subsequent economic losses onsite or in adjacent areas. Surface sampling from different landforms of the study area and analytical result...

Spectroscopic Based Quantitative Mapping of Contaminant Elements in Dumped Soils of a Copper Mine

Possibility of mapping the distribution of Arsenic and Chromium in a mining area was investigated using combination of (VNIR) reflectance spectroscopy and geostatistical analysis. Fifty five soil samples were gathered from a waste dump at Sarcheshmeh copper mine and VNIR reflectance spectra were measured in a laboratory. Savitzky- Golay first derivative was used as the main pre-processing metho...

Prediction of Soil Organic Carbon Content by Spectroscopy at European Scale Using a Local Partial Least Square Regression Approach

Due to the large spatial variation of soil organic carbon (SOC) content, assessing the current state of SOC for large areas is costly and time consuming. Visible and Near Infrared Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy (Vis-NIR DRS) is a fast and cheap tool for measuring SOC based on empirical equations and spectral libraries. While the approach has been demonstrated to yield accurate predictions for...

Unmixing of Dais 7915 Imaging Spectrometer Data in Highly Vegetated Areas

An intensively used agricultural test site in Switzerland is covered by the DAIS 7915 imaging spectrometer in summer 1997. Three different methods of collecting endmembers for spectral unmixing are selected and compared against each other. The methods include a soil-vegetation-atmosphere-transfer approach (SVAT) based on a leaf optical properties model (PROSPECT) and a canopy model (SAIL), imag...
